Welcome to the London Area of the Irish Railway Record Society
We provide a forum in London for Members of the Society and others interested in Irish transport, particularly railways, covering all aspects of the subject – historical and contemporary, infrastructure, rolling stock and people, throughout the island.
We hold monthly meetings from October to April every year hosting illustrated talks by speakers on a wide range of Irish transport subjects. Meetings are held live and /or on Zoom.

How to get there
The nearest station is Farringdon for Elizabeth Line, Thameslink, Hammersmith & City, Circle & Metropolitan lines.
Farringdon station now has two main exits, facing each other across the street. To get to Cowcross Street, head towards the Castle pub. The area contains many cafes, pubs etc. for sustenance before the meeting.
No. 77 is about 100m from Farringdon station. On arrival, go through the gated archway, walk straight ahead across the cobbled courtyard, and follow the large sign on the wall pointing right to The Gallery, down a short flight of steps, and through the door on the right, which leads directly into the meeting room. The door will be open from 17.30.
Step free route
For anyone unable to comfortably descend the steps, there is a step free route available, starting at the glass doors into the building on the right just after you have entered the courtyard. For security reasons, this route can be used only under supervision.
If you require to use it, please ask someone else going into the meeting to tell a Committee Member you are there. We will then arrange for you to be escorted via the step free route.
This route will be available for entry from 17.30 – 17.55 and for exit on request.

Refreshments
We hope to offer complimentary fruit squash and tap water during the interval. If you require anything else, please bring it with you – but please note that RED WINE is not permitted. For chilled drinks, there is a fridge available in an adjacent kitchen where drinks may be stored until the interval subject to space being available. Ask a member of the Committee where it is.
During and After
Our meetings will also be broadcast via Zoom. Background noise can be very distracting to online participants so please try and avoid any unnecessary chatter or other noise during the formal parts of the meeting.
Please leave the room as you find it and take away any litter. Check you have all your possessions with you.
We have to vacate the room not later than 21.00, when we adjourn to the local pub for an informal drink where our speaker usually joins us.
Entry Charge
To contribute to the costs of a live speaker and live venue, there will be an entry charge of £3 for IRRS members, £5 for non-members. Cash only, please.
