80th Anniversary Steam Train Outing Dublin Connolly to Thurles Return

We are delighted to announce that a Steam Hauled Railtour outing has been arranged for Saturday 24 th October 2026 to celebrate the 80th anniversary of the Irish Railway Record Society.

With thanks to the Railway Preservation Society of Ireland (RPSI) and Iarnród Éireann, we will undertake an outing from Dublin to Thurles, hauled by Steam Locomotive No. 171 “Slieve Gullion” and featuring the renowned RPSI Cravens carriages, complete with their legendary Bar Car and Dining Car offering hot and cold drinks, alcoholic beverages, sandwiches, snacks, and light refreshments.

We have requested that the tour is routed to operate via Portarlington Down Loop (outward) & Portarlington Up Loop (return).

All timings are indicative until confirmed by Iarnród Éireann.
