Genealogy
Our archive collection includes the surviving personnel records of past railway employees from the 1880s. However, not all the records for each Irish railway company have survived and thus the society has only a partial collection of this material.
These records are not presently catalogued and requests for information require archive personnel to locate the record manually. In making genealogy enquires, please provide as much information as possible concerning the person you are seeking, i.e:
- Full name of employee.
- Company employed by.
- Dates of their employment.
- Location of their employment.
- Nature of their employment.
- Date of Birth/Death of employee.
The above information will increase the chances of success in locating the desired record.
********Archival Enquires and Visitors Information********
The society is an entirely voluntarily operation and it is not always feasible to fulfil requests concerning its archive. Please do not anticipate prompt responses to requests, as these are dependant on the nature and time available for volunteers. The society endeavours to assist where possible and within reason of its available resources.
It is STRONGLY RECOMMENDED to contact the society prior to contemplating visiting the archive so that you may be accommodated on the date of your visit. Prospective visitors must therefore:
- Contact the society prior to visiting the archive, providing with detail and clarity the nature of your research.
- Consult the Rules and Regulations of the archive.
