“All The Stations” visit IRRS HQ!
On Tuesday 2 April 2019, The Irish Railway Record Society were delighted to welcome Geoff Marshall and Vicki Pipe from the All The Stations railway video series to our Library and Archive at Heuston Station, Dublin. Geoff and Vicki commenced their quest to visit and document on video every 198 stations in Ireland, north and south, on 22 March 2019, beginning at Rosslare Harbour and finally finishing in the city of Derry on 10 April.
Upon arrival at IRRS HQ, they were greeted by Society volunteers, which included Norman Gamble (Hon Archivist), Ciarán Cooney (Hon Photographic Archivist), Tim Moriarity (Hon Librarian), Anthony McDonald (Archives Staff) and Alan Hyland (Hon Treasurer). From 11:00 to approximately 12:30, Geoff and Vicki toured the library and archives, where several collections and items of interest relating to Irish railway history were on view (including maps, drawings, timetables, posters and photographs) and which were prepared by Tim, Anthony and Ciarán for our visitors.
After taking pictures and filming the railway treasures in our collection, along with a chat to Norman Gamble and all present, Geoff and Vicki departed across the road to Heuston Station to board their train to Limerick and continue their #AllTheStations journey. The Society very much wishes to thank Geoff and Vicki for taking time from their hectic travelling on Irish railways to come and spend time with us on what turned out to be memorable visit for all concerned, we hope to see them again in the future!
